On Traffic and Trains

Only one thing I hate about Bangalore – the road traffic. It is like living in a bee hive. I am reminded of the BEE movie and ANTZ when I see vehicles moving  at a damn slow pace. But the world cant stop for the traffic. Even if I have a train at 8.50 pm from yeshwantpur, I cannot finish work at office in Old airport road till about 7 pm on a Friday. All my meetings surprisingly happen Friday post lunch. Well and so I did get stuck in traffic at domlur-MG road for 20 mins. The auto driver was one real odd man who kept singing aloud and talking to himself. Not that I am complaining about his real mellifluous (read revoltingly unmelodious) voice and choice of the local Kannadiga Top of the charts. But the clock was ticking!!!
My life and destiny was in the hands of this multifaceted man. I remind him that the train will leave and certainly without me if we do not make it in an hour’s time. He revoltingly cast a glance at me and spin the auto around amidst all the traffic. In no time we had started moving through some really small lanes and I was at ulsoor in 10 mins. Then it was a stop at Lido for 10 more mins. We then stopped at 20 different signals, but the move was quick and i got to the station at 8.35 pm. This was definitely followed by a 2 minute haggle about how I need to pay him 50% more than what the meter read. To which I did not budge.
In all ecstasy I entered the station and saw an overhead bridge staircase to the left and there was another one far off to the right. Wanting to shirk hard work at least this time, I ran up the left stairs to realize that this only took me from platform 1 to platform 3. Arghh.. Why do they make life so complicated??? I then ran to the end of platform 3 and took another staircase and went down to platform 5. The big digital clock at platform 5 read 8.48 and skated to my seat in the train. And then.. Something miraculous happened.. The train left on time!!! .
I ve always had trouble with trains. I have heard that Indian trains are never on time, but with me, its entirely different. I am never able to get to them on time.
